Stencils of gaskets are used in these paintings to suggest the industrial landscape around my studio in Brooklyn, NY: abandoned factories, warehouses, rusted loading cranes and other heavy machinery. The color fields suggest tactile surfaces of corroded metal, sooty walls, hanging wires, asphalt, cement, oil spills, sludge. An acid green painting refers to the toxic waters of the Gowanus Canal.
