My work now explores the idea of the Earth itself ... the Earth's elements. Going back to the earliest science, these elements were integrated into ideas of philosophy and knowledge of the visible planets. I’ve been reading about Alchemy. The seven known elements of the ancient world (lead, tin, iron, copper, mercury, silver and gold) related to the seven planets (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon and Sun). These early discoveries were known as the Planetary Metals. The paintings incorporate alchemical symbols as well as the periodic table designation.

Fluorine is one of the Noble Gases, invisible in its normal state. However, when cooled to -417°F, it becomes yellow with a greenish tint.

Antimony is one of the Mundane Elements discovered by alchemists. Mundane Elements were "of the earth" as opposed to Planetary Elements, early discoveries which were thought to be related to the seven planets that could be seen by the eye.
