These Jersey City Relics acknowledge the chemical presence near my former studio in Jersey City, NJ. Paper stencils used to label the barrels were thrown out in the garbage, some drifted in the wind. I collected these stencils and incorporated them as visual elements in my work. The paintings are small. I consider them relics — pieces excavated from a future archeological dig. They relate to shards of pottery or fragments of a wall.
